Born and raised in northern India, Rajiv studied accounting at Panjab University, finance at Ajmer University, and earned his MBA from the University of Miami. He joined Vontobel in 1994 as co-portfolio manager for emerging markets and international equities, became CIO in 2002 and co-CEO in 2014. Under his leadership, Vontobel’s AUM grew from ~$400 million to nearly $50 billion.
In 2016 he founded GQG Partners, now publicly listed on the ASX with ~170 employees and offices in Florida, New York, Seattle, Sydney and London. As of July 31, GQG manages over $108 billion in client assets, with more than 90% invested outside the U.S., including ~$30 billion in emerging markets.
